Freeport AI Energy Campus

Apatura is bringing forward proposals for a 250MW AI Energy Campus located at Freeport Leisure Village, Westwood, West Calder, a significant new digital infrastructure development for West Lothian.

The project would deliver a major investment in a hyperscale green AI data centre, helping to power Scotland’s digital economy while supporting local ambitions for a fairer, greener, and more prosperous future.

More about the project

The site boundary

This boundary identifies the land under consideration for development. All infrastructure, access points, and associated works will be designed within this footprint, subject to planning approval.

Why now?

AI and other digital technologies are driving unprecedented demand for secure data capacity and energy storage. Countries worldwide are competing fiercely to attract the investment and infrastructure needed to lead in this new economy, and the UK must act quickly to secure its share.

Freeport has the location, scale, and strategic connections to deliver nationally significant infrastructure at exactly the right moment. With demand rising rapidly, there is a narrow window to secure the investment, jobs, and skills that will flow to regions ready to respond.

If we miss this opportunity, the benefits will go elsewhere. Acting now could bring billions in long-term value to Scotland and lasting benefits to the local community, from high-quality employment and training to enhanced infrastructure that supports future growth.
