Ravenscraig Data Centre Campus

Apatura is bringing forward proposals for a new 550MW Data Centre Campus within the Ravenscraig masterplan area.

Developed independently but shaped by the vision of Ravenscraig Ltd and the Ravenscraig Promise, the project reflects a shared commitment to creating a cleaner, better future for the community. Our plans will deliver new energy and digital infrastructure to Ravenscraig, building on long-standing ambitions for a thriving, mixed-use community.

More about the project

The site boundary

These boundaries show the two plots of land under consideration for development at Ravenscraig. All infrastructure, access points, and associated works will be designed within these footprints, subject to planning approval.

Project timeline

This timeline shows the key steps involved in bringing forward the Ravenscraig Data Centre Campus – from early engagement and formal planning to potential construction and operation.

Our aim is to work openly and in partnership with the community throughout, ensuring local voices are reflected in how the proposals evolve.

This is where we met with local residents, community groups, and stakeholders to share plans, answer questions, and gather feedback. This input has helped shape the final design and ensures local voices are heard.

Both public consultations were held at New College Lanarkshire (Motherwell Campus), the first on 1st October 2025 and the second on 6th October 2025.

Q3 2026
Submit planning application

We submitted a formal planning application to the relevant authorities, including all technical studies, community feedback, and environmental assessments.

This timeline will continue to be updated as the project progresses and as feedback is reviewed.

Why now?

With unprecedented demand for secure data capacity and energy storage, countries worldwide are racing to attract the investment and infrastructure needed to lead in this new digital economy.

The UK Government has launched AI Growth Zones to stay competitive, and opportunities for the UK and Scotland are time‑limited. Ravenscraig is uniquely positioned to respond. With the right scale, strategic connections, and a confirmed grid connection for 2030, the site can deliver nationally significant infrastructure at exactly the right moment.

If we miss this window, the investment and the jobs will go elsewhere. Acting now could secure billions in long‑term value for the UK and lasting benefits for the local community, from high‑quality jobs and skills to enhanced infrastructure.
